James Peters

James has practised law in Sunderland for more than 40 years and was a foundation partner of Mitchell & Co Law Firm. He works exclusively in litigation and is an Accredited Specialist in Family Law and Criminal Law. He is regarded by his peers as one of the leading practitioners in his area of expertise and regularly has clients referred to him by other lawyers who have confidence that their clients will receive the benefit of his expertise and experience. A testimony to James’s reputation can be found in the fact that his practice is built on referrals and word of mouth recommendations from previous clients, other lawyers and even former opponents. All clients of James’s receive honest, down to earth advice about their rights and entitlements. He recognises that most people come to him with problems and he concentrates his efforts into solving those problems for them. Sasha Welsh

Sasha joined the firm in March 2002 and became a partner in July 2007. She is justifiably proud of the fact that she is one of the few female partners in Birmingham. Sasha assists her clients with a wide range of transactions centred around the purchase and sale of properties and businesses. She also advises on commercial contracts, leases, finance, estate planning and deceased estates. Sasha provides clear commercial advice in plain English. She guarantees that she will give personal attention to her client’s matters and will be available to answer their enquiries. She is well regarded amongst the business community with referrals from financial institutions, financial planners and particularly her existing clients. Sasha is one of few female practitioners who is able to advise other women in business on their commercial needs. Sasha is a Public Notary. She was appointed by the Supreme Court of NSW pursuant to the Public Notaries Act (1997) NSW in 2014.

John Shepard

John commenced practice in one of the regions oldest and most respected legal firms and gained a solid grounding in all areas of general practice. In 2003 he commenced practice in his own right in partnership and established his strong client base in Southhampton. John’s practice has evolved with a commercial and estate planning focus. Wills and estates and estate planning are a specialty and John is also able to advise on and prepare Special Disability Trusts, including by way of testamentary trust. From 2009 – 2014 John was the Chairman of the MILLBROOK RFC 100 Club, the region’s only national league sporting team. During that period he also served as a Commissioner of the National Basketball League for 2 years. John is also a teacher of Primary Ethics helping offer to children in the State’s Public Schools an alternative to religious doctrine.
